Kincaid let out a soft gasp at Ash’s words, a secret thrill rushing through her, and then his lips were on hers. His mouth was warm and commanding and felt like a deep drink of water after being in a hot, dry desert all day. All the things she hadn’t been feeling when Marco kissed her flooded her body like a tidal wave—desire, need, and absolute urgency to have more more more.

As if hearing her silent plea, he tilted her head and deepened the kiss, swallowing the whimper that escaped her as their tongues collided. His fingers tunneled through the hair at the nape of her neck, angling her head just how he wanted, and his teeth nipped her bottom lip, his tongue following with a soothing swipe.

She wanted that tongue everywhere. Every cell in her body reverberated with oh-yes-please at his hungry exploration. Her muscles melted, her body going liquid as his grip tightened on her hip and pulled her fully against him. This was not the tentative boy she remembered from high school, the one who preferred to hang in the background. This was a man who had come into his own, one full of confidence and command.

Ash backed her up until she bumped the edge of the table and was forced to sit atop it. He stepped between her spread knees and cradled her jaw as he kissed her harder and deeper. The black tights she’d worn beneath her sweater dress offered no defense against the erotic feel of Ash’s growing erection. The hard length of him pressed against where she’d now grown achy and hot. She couldn’t help her reaction. She tilted her head back, a needy sound escaping her.

Ash kissed down her throat, his hand mapping her thigh and then sliding beneath the knit fabric of her dress. “Fuck, KC, you’re going to kill me with those sounds you’re making.”

She looped her arms around his neck and looked at him, basking in the desire burning behind his glasses. To be that wanted was a heady high, and some of her confidence bubbled back up. “I’m not quiet in bed. I know you’re shocked.”

He smirked and slid his hand higher, tracing a thumb along her upper inner thigh and making her skin go tingly with awareness. She let out another desperate sound, and his smirk turned into Cheshire wickedness. “Good. I don’t want you quiet. I want to figure out all the things I can do to hear every sexy sound you’re capable of.” His thumb whispered along the crease where her leg met her pelvis. “Want to do all the things I’ve been fantasizing about when I was supposed to be shelving books. Want to touch and kiss and…taste all of you.”

Kincaid’s mouth had gone dry. “You’ve been fantasizing.”

“So much,” he said, squeezing her thigh.

She tugged down the collar of his T-shirt, considered ripping the damn thing. “I’m game as long as I’m afforded the same privilege. You’re not the only one who’s been having dirty thoughts in the bookstore.
